One of the most relaxing and inviting trips my husband and I have ever taken was the one where we unintentionally stumbled into Germany. As a flight attendant we are able to travel stand by which means there is no guarantee that we have a seat. So when we decided to go to Greece we noticed that we just could not get on any of the direct flights to Athens.
While at JFK airport in New York we noticed a flight from JFK to Frankfurt, Germany. We decided to take the circuitous route and ended up going to Frankfurt. We reserved our hotel in Germany during the boarding process. Once we arrived at our hotel we truly thought it would be a one night deal. Not so! We learned very quickly that there was a holiday in Greece and that many people were there to celebrate.
So instead of hanging out in the hotel feeling bad for ourselves that we couldn’t get to Greece, we decided to see the local wonders that Germany had to offer. I always peruse Viator.com wherever I go to see what sort of things there are to see and do in every location. Frankfurt provided us with a bevy of opportunities.
The first tour we signed up for was the Rhine River Cruise: https://www.viator.com/tours/Frankfurt/Rhine-Valley-Trip-from-Frankfurt-including-Rhine-River-Cruise/d489-5326RHINE
As one who loves a good castle tour, we realized we had to see Heidelberg! https://www.viator.com/tours/Frankfurt/Heidelberg-Half-Day-Trip-from-Frankfurt/d489-5326HEIDELBERG
