Hello there! My name is Jeri Sue and my life story has followed its own path. My deep love of people and my never ending wanderlust has sent me to unfamiliar places all over the world.
After graduating from college I wasn’t sure which avenues to pursue so I took the road more challenged that sent me to teach English as a second language in Japan and China
When I turned 38 I married an incredible man with four boys. I am also a grandmother to 4 adorable grandchildren. While our boys were teenagers I began teaching ESL at an elementary school part-time.
As an avid traveler I’m always looking to feed my hunger for travel. I believe that we all have an innate desire to feel connected to someone, be validated, and have someone who understands us. Travel can provide us with these opportunities while allowing us to be untethered from the daily stresses, responsibilities, and even doldrums that can plague us or make us feel suffocated.
We all travel for one reason or another, which can lead us to roads uncharted. My globetrotting days began as a young child when my father used to pack up our car and drive me and my family across country from Utah to North Carolina quite frequently. We would traverse the open road wide eyed never knowing where my dad would take us next. We never went the same way each time we traveled, but made stops along the way to see where so much history occurred in our country.
As young impressionable children we were enveloped in a wave of learning that could not be taught in any history or geography book. Right before my eyes I witnessed reenactments of various points of history and learned so much from knowledgeable guides that I became an ardent fan of seeing history first hand and hearing from the experts.
As we traveled we also delved into the artistic tapestry of the culinary world. I have been introduced to many types of food I didn’t even know existed. As a young child I was exposed to grits, okra, and yes, even frogs’ legs!
As I traveled to international destinations I developed a love of deep fried patacones made from unripe bananas, granizados, locro, ceviche, and arroz con menestra in Ecuador; gyoza, yakisoba, okonomiyakia, and nikuman in Japan; and jiaotzu and huoguo (traditional hot pot) in Chongqing, China.
The reason I’m delving into the big world of blogging is to share my experiences, give ideas, and help others achieve their dream trips. I’m also very eager to hear your travel goals, adventures, and desires, so feel free to share!
Thank you for coming along with me on this journey! Happy travels!
