Last week my husband and I decided to get away to beat the Coronavirus blues. We realized we had some points with our resort ownership/travel club and found a room available in Midway, Utah so we claimed our room and drove up Provo Canyon for three days of sheer relaxation.
If you’ve never been to Midway, Utah it’s about time you discover this gem of a place. It’s wedged up in the mountains by Park City and Heber. Founded by Swiss immigrants it has maintained much of its Swiss charm.
We didn’t go with any kind of an agenda, and since my husband works from home, it doesn’t matter where we travel. We were able to take each day as it came. We slept in and took in everything at our own pace, which gave my husband the afternoon to work. We cruised through each day going where we wanted and dining at a few highly recommended eateries.
Not far from our resort is the charming restaurant entitled The Corner, which is nestled exactly where you’d expect it: on the corner. Everyone was required to wear a mask and all the tables were spread out so everyone could feel safe.
Our meal was absolutely delectable but what sent this place over the top for us was the decadent desserts. As they are known for their coconut cream pie, we had to indulge so we took a slice home along with a piece of their banana cream pie. Needless to say, they exceeded our expectations so I had to include their link and share the good news: https://midwaycorner.com/
It’s easiest to enjoy downtime when you are going somewhere you’ve been before, and especially so if it is easy reached from home.
There is something particularly restful about being somewhere where you don’t have to worry about deep cleaning, cooking or doing laundry for a while.
It was just as easy to social distance at our apartment as at home. So there wasn’t any real change to our exposure. The resort allowed us to reserve a one hour slot to swim in their pool. We were the only ones there and it was magnificent! Management did a deep cleaning between guests so we never felt that we were taking any unnecessary risks.
We were able to discover some new, fun restaurants and take romantic evening walks. As a bonus the temperatures were about 10 degrees cooler than home.
In short, while we didn’t do much in the way of normal tourism, we did rest and recharge and prepare ourselves to return to the old grind.
